Dynamometer
The addition of a multi-motor dynamometer has enhanced our capabilities in drive repair and performance evaluation. This system includes two 400 HP AC motors powered by regenerative AC drives (VFDs) and a 400 HP DC motor/drive combination. Its flexible design allows operation in various test modes, with each motor configurable to function as either the plant load or the prime mover.
The dynamometer enables us to simulate Dual AC Motor applications on a shared shaft, allowing for the evaluation of load-sharing and slip correction features. It can also simulate locked rotor conditions to test zero-speed torque performance of VFDs. This addition allows us to provide customers with load-tested and verified drive control algorithms for a range of AC and DC electro-mechanical applications.
Using a dynamometer is crucial for accurately measuring the performance, efficiency, and reliability of engines, motors, and other mechanical systems. It provides precise data on torque, power output, and speed under controlled conditions, enabling engineers to optimize designs, improve fuel efficiency, and reduce emissions. A dynamometer also helps identify potential issues early, ensuring equipment meets safety and quality standards before deployment. In industries like automotive, manufacturing, and energy, it plays a vital role in research, development, and maintenance, ultimately saving time, reducing costs, and enhancing overall system performance.
